Spirituality Retreats

SFTS offers a series of retreats to nurture spiritual formation and deepen capacities to engage the world with compassion and justice. These retreats can be taken individually or build toward a certificate or diploma. In addition to contemplative listening and foundations of spiritual direction, possible retreat topics include

  • wilderness spirituality
  • practices of discernment
  • Buddhist-Christian compassion practices
  • spiritual practice and social justice
  • lives of women mystics
  • and more.

These retreats are offered for pastors or activists desiring to incorporate spiritual formation in their work, seekers wishing to deepen their spiritual lives, spiritual directors who wish to expand their spiritual practice. These retreats may be taken in conjunction with a Certificate in the Art of Spiritual Direction or a Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction.

AWAKENING THE HEART TO THE OTHER: PRACTICES OF BEAUTY AND COMPASSION

This retreat introduces Buddhist and Christian practices of compassion and heart-opening attention to the natural beauty. The retreat will intersperse periods of guided meditations with periods for rest, walking, journaling, labyrinth walk, art. This event offers a time for restorative rest and contemplation, rooted in sustainable practices of compassionate world-engagement.
