Prospective Student Weekends

San Anselmo Campus:
Nov. 12-14, 2010
Feb. 18-20, 2010
(Weekend events begin at 9 a.m. Friday)

The Prospective Student Weekend is a retreat hosted by San Francisco Theological Seminary on our beautiful Northern California campus. The weekend is designed for those who are considering seminary education, with a taste of seminary life, tools for discernment, and a chance to meet faculty and students. We invite you to become a part of our faith learning community for this free weekend, offered as our ministry to you, as you seek clarity in God’s call to ministry.

San Francisco Theological Seminary invites you to:

  • Spend a weekend on our beautiful, historic Northern California campus in Marin County.
  • Meet current students, staff and faculty members, and talk with them about their sense of call and how SFTS is helping them to fulfill it.
  • Build community with others who are in the process of discerning God’s call in their lives.
  • Attend Sunday Worship featuring a pastor who is a SFTS alum and speak with the pastor about the many meaningful ways ministers serve.
  • Learn about the Graduate Theological Union, a consortium of nine independent theological schools, including SFTS. Located in Berkeley, the GTU is where SFTS students study and worship with students from many faith traditions.
Discerning God’s Call

God speaks to those who are called to ministry in many ways. If service to others feels deeply satisfying, if curiosity about God and the Bible is making you interested in learning more, if the encouragement of friends and mentors points toward exploring seminary education, it’s time to spend time listening to God’s call for you.

During Prospective Student Weekend

This weekend retreat is designed to encourage all participants to:

  • Explore callings through study, worship, reflection and community building
  • Attend faculty-led sessions on Bible and spirituality
  • Experience a variety of worship experiences
  • Enjoy time at the beach or on local hiking trails
  • Engage in fellowship with members of our community and others in discernment

Our practical nuts and bolts sessions about who we are and what we have to offer will provide you with information you need about SFTS to begin discerning whether this is where God is calling you.
