Designing a Mosaic for Ministry

The Board of Trustees of SFTS, at its October 2013 meeting, approved a 20-month, $6 million fundraising initiative –

Chapter 1: Designing a Mosaic for Ministry – beginning December 1, 2013 and concluding July 31, 2015.

Why the Mosaic theme? A mosaic is “the art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials.” Each piece within the mosaic has its own character and beauty, even as a broken piece of glass that was originally part of a larger vessel, or as a piece of a shell that seems out of place on land, so far from its origin in the sea. When joined with glue and grout into a mosaic, all of these pieces – broken, imperfect, out of place and unusual – become a new, brilliant image with a powerful and compelling new existence. We know that God’s message to a world that often seems broken redeems that brokenness and builds hope, community and strength that advances Christ’s mission into the world.

We believe Christ has called SFTS to provide leadership for the Church at this time and place. Grounded in the tenets of our faith and our belief that Christ’s message is as relevant today as ever before,we are committed to the future of our work at SFTS and the renewal and invigoration of worshipping communities.
