The SFTS Counseling Program continues the seminary's 40-year tradition of care for the psychological and spiritual needs of our students. Our purpose is to provide SFTS students and their families with two services. They are:
- Counseling and Psychotherapy
- Spiritual Direction
This program is coordinated by Dr. Scott Sullender, associate professor of pastoral counseling, and Scott Clark, interim associate dean of student life and chaplain.
Our coordinator has a list of approved providers in each of the above categories of services. In your initial interview, you will be matched up with a provider who can best meet your needs and achieve your goals.
There are professional fees for each of these services. SFTS provides a voucher program that pays approximately 50 percent of the full and customary fees. The voucher program is applicable to the counseling and spiritual direction services. If you wish to participate in the voucher program, you must purchase your vouchers in advance.
If you believe that you can benefit from any of these services, we invite you to make an appointment with the program coordinator. This initial interview is free and there is no obligation to go further if you choose so.
This program and its staff follow strict standards for privacy and confidentiality, as might be expected in any professional counseling program. A full description of the programs procedures and policies regarding confidentiality will be explained to you at the time of the initial interview.
