Ministry Opportunity Description

     
DIRECTOR OF MANDARIN MINISTRY
Part­‐time Position/25 hours a week /$31,500 annual
The San Diego Chinese Community Church
圣地雅哥中华联合基督教会
seeks a part-­‐time Director of Mandarin Ministry.

Primary duties are to:
• Conduct a vibrant/self-­‐sustaining Friday Night Fellowship of student and young professional Mandarin speakers along with lay and student leaders
• Coach and mentor leaders
• Restart a Mandarin Adult Sunday School class
• Care and outreach to Mandarin speakers; preach periodically
• Assist Senior Pastor to develop ministry teams and train ministry leaders
• Work with church boards and,
• Perform other duties as assigned

The Chinese Community Church (CCC) began in 1885 as a Christian outreach to Toishan sojourners. English lessons and socialization efforts were evangelistic tools. Today, 3rd and 4th
generation Chinese Americans, newer immigrants from Asia, and
non-­‐Asians attend CCC’s English language worship and programs.

The ideal Director of Mandarin Ministry will have a love for
Chinese students and Mandarin speakers; have a desire to share
Christ‘s love to non-­‐believers and nurture believers into disciples of Christ; be able to speak, teach, and communicate
effectively in both Mandarin and English; and understand Chinese and American cultures.

Ideal experience, skills and traits include:
• Experience working with student, young professional, and adult Mandarin speakers from China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong
• Seminary trained; ordination optional
• Friendly, self-­‐starter, and organized
