Ministry Opportunity Description

Position available: Part-time Pastor (may develop into Full-time)
Start date: As soon as possible
Schedule: 24 hours per week - Sundays and 2 days per week (flexible)
Salary range: $1500-$3200 per month
Education: Seminary graduate or student working towards a degree or experienced pastor
Qualifications: Be in agreement with the doctrines of the American Baptist Church

MACARTHUR COMMUNITY BAPTIST CHURCH has been serving the needs of families for more than half a century. We are a dedicated, multicultural, and multi-aged congregation with strong suburban outreach programs such as the: Food Pantry, Meals-On-Wheels, Judson Homes senior and disabled housing, AA, choir, youth program, Sunday School, and Bible studies in both English and Spanish.


1. Plan and conduct the public worship services of the church including communion service and altar calls.
2. Preach the "full counsel of God" in keeping with the leading of the Holy Spirit.

1. Lead or assist in leading adult Bible Study.
2. Lead other training sessions as appropriate to the needs of the congregation.

1. Perform: weddings, wedding renewals, funerals, memorial services, baptisms, infant dedication, including necessary counseling and follow-up.
2. Visit other members and friends of the church to the extent that time allows.
3. Visit the sick, hospitalized, institutionalized, troubled, bereaved, inactive members and friends of the church.
4. Promote the spiritual growth and development of individual members, group organizations, and the church body as a whole by all possible means.

1. Enable the church to understand its purpose, resources, opportunities, and limitations.
2. Serve as an ex-officio member of all department and committees of the church and be the primary staff resource person for these, except where another staff member is assigned this function.
3. Supervise the work of the church office.
4. Supervise all property maintenance decisions, emergencies, repairs, rental agreements, and staff assignments.

Have a deep and abiding faith and a passion for preaching and teaching the Word of God. Possess a willingness to minister to the poor, sick, elderly, and the homeless of all races and beliefs.
