Advent Devotion:Waiting with Anticipation in the Season of Advent!
Monday, December 18, 2017
In this season of Advent as we wait with anticipation for the Messiah to come, we are not waiting for the birth of a child, but the return of the Christ Child who promises to bring total reconciliation to all of God’s people. We find ourselves living how Jesus taught us, living in the world bringing peace in a world full of chaos. We live with the hope that God will return soon and bring restoration across the land from nation to nation. We live with joy, knowing our God is capable of all things and that restoration is at hand. We live with the love of Jesus, as we go forth and share this Good News across the land.
As Isaiah 52: 7-10 talks about the messenger who brings Good News, we are reminded that John the Baptist was the messenger who preceded Jesus as he prepared people for the coming of the Messiah. Today, we are the “John the Baptist” in the world, as we continue to proclaim the Good News and prepare people for a time when the risen Christ Child will finalize the fulfillment of scriptures.
Let us also be the sentinels that sing with joy, knowing that God is with us during our time of struggle; knowing that when the time is right, God will bring full restoration to all of those who are waiting upon our Heavenly Creator to bring forth Heaven here on earth. With all the trouble in the world today, we can easily look into the sky and see that today could be the day of such triumphant victory as we wait in anticipation, especially in the season of Advent!
